The Tex Table App Design

RESEARCH: Chips and queso is a defining dish of Tex-Mex cuisine, blending Mexican ingredients with American influences to create a warm, shareable comfort food that represents community, casual dining, and regional identity in Texas. For me, it symbolizes home in Dallas and the experience of gathering with friends and family, making it both culturally significant and emotionally nostalgic. I have always been drawn to the atmosphere of Tex-Mex restaurants, where the environment is vibrant, colorful, and full of energy, with so many textures, patterns, and elements happening at once. For this project, I wanted to capture that lively feeling while slightly refining it so it would not overwhelm the viewer. By focusing on key visual elements and simplifying the chaos, I aimed to translate that exciting restaurant experience into something that still feels warm, inviting, and visually engaging.

In Dallas, it is common to have multiple Tex-Mex restaurants within the same area, so I wanted the app to make discovering recipes and nearby restaurants feel just as easy and accessible. The navigation is designed to be simple and user-friendly, allowing users
to quickly browse categories, view trending dishes, or find what they are craving without confusion. For the recipe layout, I prioritized ease of use by designing a scrollable format rather than requiring users to click
through each step, making it easier to move back and forth while cooking. Overall, the design balances functionality with a vibrant, inviting aesthetic to create an experience that feels both practical and true to the energy of Tex-Mex dining.
